She has a BA in English from the University of Maine (first in her family to graduate with a degree) and a MS in Education from Walden University.  Sherrie lives in Sidney, has taught English/Language Arts and Adult Education in Central Maine since 2000, and has worked as an Adult Education Student Advisor. She is a long-time volunteer with Girl Scouts of America and with Odyssey of the Mind.

She is passionate about helping adult learners meet their education, career, and money management goals and is looking forward to being a resource for UMA students, staff, and community partners.  She will help coordinate free tax assistance this winter through Central Maine CA$H in Waterville.

Christina (Chris) Davis is based at USM’s Lewiston/Auburn College and will provide career planning and financial education services in Androscoggin and Oxford Counties.

She has a BS from the University of Southern Maine with a dual major in Social and Behavioral Sciences and Leadership and Organizational Studies.  Chris lives in the Oxford Hills’ area and currently serves there as a conference facilitator with the Restorative Justice Institute of Maine and as a volunteer advocate for Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services.  She brings twenty years of experience working with individuals, families, and communities in Western Maine promoting public health (physical, behavioral, and mental) and wellness.

Her interests include education and personal development, whole health, aging in place, and connecting people to resources and partnerships that increase quality of life.  She will help coordinate free tax assistance through Lewiston/Auburn CA$H.

New Ventures Maine, a program of UMA and the UMS, helps people all over the state venture in new directions by offering tuition-free programs for career, business, and financial education.  Training is offered in person and online.  Sherrie can be reached at 621-3436 and Chris at 753-6531.
