Welcoming Our New Workforce Specialist

We are pleased to welcome our new North Central/Downeast Region Workforce Specialist, Tom Grogan!

Tom will be providing career planning and financial education services in Penobscot, Hancock, Washington, and Piscataquis Counties from our Center on the UMA- Bangor Campus.

Prior to joining our staff Tom led the development of Bangor’s CPPC, Community Partnerships for Protecting Children,  a community-wide collaborative where he worked with over thirty partner organizations.  At CPPC Tom brought together community members and local professionals to improve Bangor neighborhoods and prevent child abuse & neglect.

Tom has over thirty years of experience as a leader in academia and the non-profit sector. He has advised and mentored students as Associate Professor and Program Coordinator of the Human Services program at Lakes Region Community College in Laconia, New Hampshire. He holds a Master’s Degree in Organizational Leadership and Management from Springfield College and a Master of Divinity Degree from Bangor Theological Seminary.

Tom is excited by the idea of bringing together his experience as a classroom teacher, working with community partners, and supporting Maine community members through life’s changes in his new role at NVME. He finds passion in building genuine relationships and helping others strive to make positive personal changes.  He is an engaging workshop facilitator and brings excellent organization and event planning skills to NVME.
