Adapting Totally Trades!

New Ventures Maine is very pleased to receive a $2,500 donation from NBT Bank at the recommendation of Bob Gaudreau, Owner of Hardypond Development, and Deirdre Wadsworth, President of Hardypond Construction and member of NVME’s Advisory Council.  The gift will support Totally Trades! Celebrating 3 Totally Trades! Fall Conferences

  Nearly 350 female students in total attended Totally Trades! conferences this fall. Events were held at the Mid-Coast School of Technology (Rockland), Washington County Community College (Calais), and Foster Career and Technical Education Center (Farmington).   Totally Trades! conferences are day-long events designed to encourage girls to consider careers in fields traditionally underrepresented by women. Calais Totally Trades 2015

On October 23, 2015 over 130 girls from throughout Washington County attended the Totally Trades! Conference.  Hands-on workshops, such as Building a Birdhouse, Computer Aided Drafting (3-D printing), Small Engine Repair, Heavy Equipment Operation and Introduction to Video Production provided students with an opportunity to explore a career that women are often underrepresented in.   The feedback from students, instructors/workshop presenters, planning members, and chaperons seemed to confirm that this …

Totally Trades Spring 2013

Successful Totally Trades events were held in April in Bangor at United Technologies Center and in Presque Isle at Northern Maine Community College.  Nearly 250 girls attended hands-on workshops in areas such as heavy equipment operation, construction,welding, cable technician and automotive.  In Bangor a panel of  women employed in nontraditional careers  offered personal insights around their chosen career paths and pointers for success in the field.  In Presque Isle a …
