Dawna Hall – Portland

DHallwithTeamWhether meeting business goals or fitness goals, the three words that come to mind when Dawna Hall thinks of sheJAMs and Women, Work, and Community (WWC) are: Supportive, Motivating, Inspiring.  “I love the fact that WWC will be the sole beneficiary of the REV3 sheJAMs All Women’s Olympic Triathlon this year!” said Hall who is a WWC graduate and a sheJAMmer.

Hall, owner of Organize ME! (http://www.organizemaine.com/), a professional organizing business in Portland took WWC’s 15-hour class called Beyond Startup: Moving Your Business Forward in 2012. She says she took the class for both new ideas and validation that she was on the right path. “WWC has given me the motivation and support I need to feel confident when marketing my business,” she says. “I also gained a better appreciation for setting business goals and sticking to them.”

Last year, Hall reached some personal goals as well. A friend introduced her to sheJAMs, and Hall decided to join “to reconnect with my inner athlete.” She wanted a form of exercise that was more social, goal oriented, and motivating. Hall started with the run group in April, and by June she had completed a few 5Ks. She went on to complete the 10K portion of a sheJAMs REV3 Triathlon relay team in August. “The group has given me the confidence to try new things that were previously out of my comfort zone.”

WWC is looking for folks to push their comfort zones, either solo or as teams, for the sheJAMs Rev3 Triathlon on Aug. 24 at OOB. If you’re not sure, Hall says, “Stop thinking about it and just do it!! It was such a great feeling to cross that finish line!”
