Acadia Coast to Coast-Julie Tilden

Julie Tilden

“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to meet and work with the supportive group at Women, Work, and Community.”

Julie Tilden enrolled in Creating Your Future to explore possibilities for what to do next in her career. She had worked at several jobs and tried self-employment and was ready to use her talents in a new way. During the training she considered her experience in managing rental properties and her interest in real estate. She gave thought to starting a home staging business to present homes for sale and offer cleaning and moving services.

The next step was to enroll in WWC’s New Ventures business training. Writing her business plan demonstrated that the home staging business would not produce enough income to support her in a timely way. So she opted instead to accept an offer from Steve Shelton of Acadia Realty Group to sponsor Julie to become a real estate agent. She went on to become licensed, selling 10 properties within 6 months.

Julie continued to think about building her own business. She applied her New Ventures training to the development of a new business plan. In January 2011 she started Acadia Coast to Coast, providing rentals for home, vacation, and business in the Ellsworth area. Julie says that the advice to stick to a clear structure was key to her success. Julie loves the challenge of growing Acadia Coast to Coast and providing services to renters and homeowners.

Julie’s passion for matching clients with the right homes carries over to her volunteer work at Hancock County Habitat for Humanity, where she has been an enthusiastic volunteer and board member for the past seven years.
