Background
The Gilda E. Nardone Scholarship Fund was established at University of Maine at Augusta in 2015 with an initial gift from Mary Herman, ’79. The scholarship is named after Gilda E. Nardone who developed and was the Executive Director of NVME from the time service delivery began in 1978 to December, 2021.
Eligibility
Recipients must be residents of Maine and complete the NVME My Money Works, My Next Career Move or Venturing Forth class. Earning the UMS Financial Literacy Micro-Credential also fulfills the class requirement. Recipients demonstrate financial need and agree to work with an NVME coach through graduation. Obtaining a recommendation from NVME staff is part of the application process.
Use of Funds
This one-time scholarship, up to $1,000, can be applied to tuition, fees, books, and other expenses at any University of Maine System location, any Maine Community College, and the University of New England.
Application
The 2024 GEN Scholarship has a rolling deadline. Please apply at least 30 days before the start date of your first class.
