A recent graduate of the University of North Texas (Denton), Madalyn earned her degree in political science and journalism. While taking undergraduate courses at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, she also spent several years volunteering in the community helping high school girls to learn about and connect with city leaders, helping to improve bus transportation, building an accessible community container garden, and working with animals at a local shelter.

Madalyn was excited to make the move to Augusta. “I applied for a number of positions in the west and only one position in Maine, but I decided that if I got this one, I would move here…I’ve always wanted to live in Maine,” she said. And it’s already living up to her expectations.

At NVME Madalyn will support current and prospective students on their way to college and career success. She will help to build connections throughout the UMA community and work with students to explore careers, manage money while in school, and participate in civic engagement activities.

“I am thrilled to bring my experience to the University of Maine at Augusta campuses and centers,” said Madalyn. “I believe New Ventures Maine can drastically change people’s lives by making education accessible in the community.”

Two New Ventures Maine AmeriCorps VISTA volunteer positions remain open. For more information and to apply, choose a location: Saco/South Portland or Bangor.
