New Ventures Maine Announces New AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteers

New Ventures Maine (NVME) is pleased to announce two new AmeriCorps VISTA Volunteers joining us this year as Campus Compact College Access and Success Coordinators.  Kate Ruehle will be based on the Augusta Campus of the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA), and Molly Cassidy will be based on the Bangor Campus of UMA.  Both will working with NVME and UMA staff and faculty and community partners to coordinate financial education, career development, and civic engagement opportunities for current and prospective UMA students regionally and statewide, including promoting MoneyWise financial literacy activities.

NVME Awards 2026 Gilda E. Nardone Scholarships

NVME Executive Director Janet Smith recently announced the recipients of the 2026 Gilda E. Nardone (GEN) Scholarship. Awards of $1,000 each will help defray the cost of college tuition and other expenses for adult learners pursuing higher education during the 2026-27 academic year. Gilda Nardone presented the scholarship awards to students at Making It Happen 2026—an event to celebrate scholarship, entrepreneurship, and leadership—at the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) on March 26th.
