New Ventures Maine has an immediate opening for two full-time Small Business Advisors to join the microenterprise team. One will be based in Bangor and will serve Ellsworth and Downeast communities; the other will be based in Lewiston and serve Western and Central Maine. Both advisors will offer classes and individual coaching to entrepreneurs who are planning and launching new businesses.
Responsibilities of both posts include planning and delivering microenterprise and financial education workshops and classes; and providing training and assistance to individuals who are self-employed or developing businesses, including low-income, non-traditional, and under-represented entrepreneurs. The positions offer a flexible work schedule with office hours, some travel, and weekend, evening, and work-from-home hours. For those who may be recent college graduates and just gaining teaching and business experience, training will be provided.
New Ventures Maine (NVME) is a statewide education and economic development program administered through UMA/University of Maine System. The salary range for both positions is low $40s and the positions are full-time. They are not temporary positions. NVME has been funded annually for 44 years.
