All three positions offer a flexible work schedule with office hours, some travel, and weekend, evening, and work-from-home hours.

The microenterprise specialist—a small business advisor–will serve business owners in their geographic region. They will offer classes statewide online and individual coaching to entrepreneurs who are planning and launching new businesses.

New Ventures Maine (NVME) is a statewide education and economic development program administered through UMA/University of Maine System. The mission of NVME is to help Maine people succeed in the changing economy and achieve economic security for themselves and their families. NVME Awards 2026 Gilda E. Nardone Scholarships

NVME Executive Director Janet Smith recently announced the recipients of the 2026 Gilda E. Nardone (GEN) Scholarship. Awards of $1,000 each will help defray the cost of college tuition and other expenses for adult learners pursuing higher education during the 2026-27 academic year. Gilda Nardone presented the scholarship awards to students at Making It Happen 2026—an event to celebrate scholarship, entrepreneurship, and leadership—at the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) on March 26th.
