Crystal and Scott Amundsen wanted a house to call their own.  With the addition of their son, the Amundsen’s decided it was time to make a plan for home ownership and set down roots in the community that they loved.

Crystal had learned about the Family Development Account matched savings program while taking the Financing Your Future class at Women, Work and Community in Bath.  In February of 2011, Crystal and Scott met with Shelley Taylor at the Bath office to review and submit their FDA application.  In March they were approved and opened their savings account at Bath Savings.  The couple continued to save monthly, completed first time homebuyers class through HoMEworks, and began to look at houses in the Bath area that might suit their needs.

In July of 2012, Crystal and Scott found the perfect house for their family.  Their personal savings of $2,000 plus the $8,000 match meant that they had $10,000 to put toward down payment and closing costs.  Since July, the Amundsen family has been busy putting their personal touch on their new home.  Crystal says; “Because of the FDA program, we were able to prepare for home ownership and purchase a home of our own in a community we love.”
