New Ventures Maine has hired Beth Aspinall to join the workforce staff to teach career and money management classes and provide individual coaching to participants in the Lewiston area and statewide.
Beth worked previously with Maine Immigrant and Refugee Services (MEIRS) as the convenor of the Lewiston-Auburn Housing Alliance. In that role, she led cross-sector collaboration among community shareholders and towns to improve housing equity and fund community-driven housing initiatives. Her prior professional experience includes working for Goodwill of Northern New England as a life navigator in holistic case management with participants in Maine’s SNAP Employment & Training Program; working as a rental assistance housing specialist for Community Development Corps Long Island; and managing the domestic violence shelter at YWCA of the Niagara Frontier.
Beth says her experience working individually with people will be advantageous in her new position. “I think the most meaningful experience I can draw from is working one-on-one with folks, to offer support, encouragement, and understanding as they work to dismantle barriers to sustainable financial security.”
When asked what she is most excited about as she starts at NVME, Beth said, “I am excited to work alongside folks who are motivated to make meaningful changes in their lives, by identifying and developing the skills and strengths they already possess.”
Beth earned a Master of Arts in Global Development and Social Justice from St. John’s University and a Bachelor of Arts with Public Affairs Concentration in Gender and Policy Studies from SUNY Empire State University.
She moved to Maine three years ago. “While I am a Buffalo Bills fan through and through, I have really grown to love it here!” she said.
Outside of work, Beth enjoys reading, cooking, gardening, and being out in nature.
