When I took New Ventures Maine’s website building class, I was frustrated with my existing author website. I write award-winning children’s books–upbeat, timeless stories for middle graders. My site looked professional, but I didn’t know how to make changes to it. I kept having to pay increasing annual amounts for website services I didn’t need or want. With the website essentially static, I couldn’t effectively promote my work.

I took the NVME website building class, which was excellent. I was still having trouble implementing what I learned, so I got individual help from my NVME coach.

I am not what anyone would call technically savvy. Over the years I have learned enough to get by. But I couldn’t do much to promote myself in the online world. With the class and individual consultation, I learned how to build a polished website that met my needs. I learned how to use Search Engine Optimization (SEO) tools. I learned the power of AI tools. Most importantly, my outlook went from ‘this online world is beyond me’ to ‘I can do this. I can take charge of my work as an author.’ I was rejuvenated!

I published my website in early March of 2025. The feedback is already starting to come in and it is positive.
